Member Scope 3 Monitoring of environmental services, including carbon, water, biodiversity
Dr. Peter Schlesinger, a Managing Partner of PSForestry (PSF), has over 28 years of experience mapping and modeling environmental data using GIS and remote sensing technologies in developing countries. PSF is an independent service provider to customers developing or investing in forestry projects that generate carbon credits, long-term investment returns, and environmental and social co-benefits.
Peter is a seasoned expert in the support of Verified Carbon Standard-based REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation) and CDM (Clean Development Mechanism)-related forest carbon sequestration activities. As a pioneer in the development of satellite image mapping of vegetation and modeling of forest carbon in Amazon tropical and Russian boreal forests, teaching, development, and assessment of monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems are among his fortes. He carries out VCS and Climate, Community, and Biodiversity Standards (CCB) validations and verifications with teams from Ecocert Environnement (L’Isle Jourdain, France). He earned a joint doctorate in Natural Resources at The Tropical Agricultural Center for Research and Higher Education (CATIE) in Turrialba, Costa Rica, and the University of Idaho (Moscow).
